Gabi on Fast Fashion- why we're not fast or cheap

Ever notice that the media is always telling you it's time to change up your style? That trends have changed and what was in is out and there is something newer and better you need to have? That you always have to be updating your wardrobe to stay "in".  This is called fast fashion. The goal of FF is to make textile production faster, cheaper and more disposable- so in other words, bad quality. In fact, the number of uses (or the life span of a clothing item) before getting tossed is almost 40% lower than just 15 years ago. Ew. Most clothes will be tossed within the same year of purchase, after only 7 or 8 wears. This is because of those ever-changing trends and the low-quality clothing- we're not gonna name drop or anything but this applies to a lot more companies than you might think.

The girls and I at London Rose Co. hope to create a better but still fashionable future for our generation and the generations to come. In order to counteract this growing phenomenon, London Rose Co decided to offer clothing and accessories made from materials that are much more eco- responsible than what we are used to seeing out there online today. Organic cotton and recycled polyester are clearly the way to go. But why?

The use of organic cotton lessens the negative impact of the textile industry on the environment as it doesn't require pesticides, insecticides or chemical products and it requires less water, thanks to better soil quality.

Recycled materials are major players in the circular motion of the industry. Instead of ending up as waste, fiber is reused resulting in avoidance of the highly polluting and resource intensive creation of new materials.

These commitments to the betterment of our planet are verified and guaranteed by the organic cotton and recycling labels that our products carry, including but not limited to; Organic 100, Confidence In Textiles, Global Organic Textile Standards, Organic Blended Content Standard, Global Recycle Standard.

Human Welfare is also an issue we care about deeply. We work with partners who guarantee healthy working conditions and are verified by the Fair Wear Foundation - created in 1999 in the Netherlands.

We are very proud of the decisions we made to partner with sustainable and ethical businesses. Our products may not get to you super-fast and may seem a little higher in price than say, other less ethical businesses, but we stand by our choices. We want you to know that we prioritize our quality and hand pick our products with you and the environment in mind.

We hope you will join our family and help us spread optimism for our future by opting for 100% eco-friendly fashion brands!

Much Love,

Gabi
